A Request of our Readers (We do have readers, right?)

For days now, you have been constantly refreshing Raptors Rapture in order to receive the latest Raptors info.  You’ve considered leaving a comment, but perhaps you felt it wouldn’t be properly appreciated by the staff at the Rapture.  What you really wanted was to leave a comment that could become an institution on this site, something that Rapture readers of the future would read and think “who’s the genius that came up with that?”  Well, never fear, our first commenter driven feature is here!

I’m tired of typing out player’s full names.  It’s boring, and it’s time consuming.  So because it’s a slow time of the year, I’ve decided to make it nickname time at Raptors Rapture!!

In the comments of any post over the summer, please give out original nickname suggestions for each and every Raptors player.  I will reveal the nicknames as I see fit, perhaps one at a time in our pre season roster rundowns for individual players, perhaps in one fell swoop with an epic nickname post.  Of course, the person who suggests the nickname will be given full credit.  I don’t have anything to give out as prizes at the moment, but the crew will toss around some economically friendly prize ideas (guest posts perhaps?  Suggestions for that will be welcome as well) and let you know.

Here are some rules and regulations for the nicknames:

1) I intend for these to be Raptors Rapture specific nicknames.  That means nicknames you’ve heard on TV or on other websites are out.

2) The following nickname formulas are banned: Initials+number (CB4, CP3), First initial+last name (D Wade, K Mart), and simply initials (VC)  If you suggest something like this, not only will it not be considered, you will be mocked in subsequent comments.

3) Suggestions for coaches, broadcasters, trainers, dance team members (real names of dance team members would be nice), media members, and anyone else associated with the team are welcome.

So there you have it.  Fire the nicknames at me.  Some will be easy (Quincey Douby) some will be more difficult (Nathan Jawai, perhaps?)  Be creative, original, and most of all, bring the funny.

If people actually make suggestions (pleeeaaassse make some suggestions) I’ll toss a post up periodically with some of my favorites.  If people don’t make suggestions, KC, Franks, Dobu, and myself will come up with the nicknames, and they will be terrific.  So, there’s always that option as well.
