"Defensive superstar" is quite a reach, my friend. Just because he had some defensive success in the playoffs (which was subsequently overblown by commentators and analysts) does not mean he is necessarily an elite level defender.

You know how many votes he got for all defensive team? 2. The same number as Kirk Hinrich, Joe Johnson, and JR Smith. Hardly in the company of "defensive superstars." The statistics over at 82games.com would also support the notion that Ariza was a good defender in a good defensive system, but hardly a superstar.

Not saying I wouldn't want him, but let's keep our expectations in check.

Thats my hope! I really want Ariza in Toronto. He is only 24 and would form an amazing young back court with Jose Calderon (27), DeRozan (19), and Ariza (24). DeRozan has amazing defensive potential and Ariza is already a defensive superstar so with the two of them the Raptors could finally keep opposing teams under 100.

I think if your going to offer Marion 7-9 million, instead you should try to give that money (obviously closer to 7 than 9) to Ariza, anyone else see a young Marion in him?

No mention of Turkoglu as a potential replacement for Marion?

I think the pricetag will probably be a bit high, and him and Bargnani in the same starting lineup would be a rebounding disaster, but the word is Toronto is at least talking about pursuing him.
