It took some extra time, but Lebron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers were able to dispose of the Toronto Raptors 126-118 on Friday night in front of a sold out Air Canada Center crowd. The Cavs were lead by none other than the King LBJ, who dropped 36, while the Raptors were lead by Bargnani and Jack who poured in 24 a piece.
For the fourth game in a row, the Toronto Raptors were without their all-star big man Chris Bosh, and now fall to 2-2 without their leader -both losses coming against quite formidable opponents. After hanging around throughout the game, the Raptors were given an opportunity to win it at the end of regulation and decided to put the ball in the hands of none other than offseason acquisition Hedo Turkoglu. Despite scoring 18 on the night, Hedo couldn’t seem to sink the one that mattered -barely grazing the rim on a three-pointer than many Raptors fans I’m sure are questioning.
With the loss, the Raptors drop to 31-26 on the season, and coupled with a Chicago win now stand only 0.5 game up on the 6th seeded Bulls. This situation does not look promising, especially considering the Raptors now hit the road for a tough two-game road trip which involves a stop in both Oklahoma City and Houston.
Raptors fans can only hope that tonight will mark the end of Chris Bosh’s absence, as his interior presence and scoring ability are being sorely missed -and could have quite possibly been the difference in tonight’s result.
Raptors Player of the Game
Jarrett Jack – 24 points, 3 assists
Fans Perspective
After having the basketball gods vow in our favor when the Lakers were in town, one could only assume the same luck would not occur yet again with another 1st place team. Despite the loss, it was great to see the Boshless Raptors keep up with the Cavaliers – I personally would like to the see the Raptors give Jarrett Jack a chance with the ball in hands at the end of a close game. Nothing against Turk -I still love the guy -but feel that when he is on Jack is just as capable and willing to take the big bucket look. Go Raps Go!
