  Well the NBA Finals tip-off tonight and sadly I have to work in an hour (DVR baby) so here is my quick take on the Finals with a few predictions thrown in. Enjoy: Series MVP:  Dirk Nowitzki. After much speculation the Los Angeles Lakers named former Cleveland Cavaliers coach Mike Brown as their new head coach, signing him to a 4 year $18.25 million deal. Brown is most known for his defensive strengths and his offensive shortcomings and it will be interesting to see how he deals with Kobe as it seemed that Brown was not as stern with LeBron James as he should have been in his stint with Cleveland.  The Lakers get a former Coach of the Year and someone who has had experience coaching an elite player. A few thoughts: This is what happens when you soften the game as much as David Stern has, this is something that never would have happened 15-20 years ago. Harden was clearly taking advantage of the new flagrant rules and the fact that no one would retaliate if he pulled it off. Harden should clearly be fined for this. The Raptors decided to solve their ongoing GM issue heading into the Draft Lottery, giving current General Manager Bryan Colangelo a multi-year extension to stay with the franchise. In his five year tenure Colangelo has experienced both highs and lows with the franchise. Winning the Executive of the Year award in the 06-07 season when the Raptors won 47 games and captured the Atlantic Division crown.
