Raptors Rapture’s (Extremely Short) NBA Finals Preview
Well the NBA Finals tip-off tonight and sadly I have to work in an hour (DVR baby) so here is my quick take on the Finals with a few predictions thrown in. Enjoy: Series MVP: Dirk Nowitzki. Win or lose Dirk is going to be the best player in the series. Don’t be surprised if the Heat throw the kitchen sink at him and still can’t stop him. There isn’t one Miami Heat player who has the defensive talent to slow down the best offensive post player in recent history, this is Dirk’s final step in getting the respect [...]

Lakers Hire Mike Brown
After much speculation the Los Angeles Lakers named former Cleveland Cavaliers coach Mike Brown as their new head coach, signing him to a 4 year $18.25 million deal. Brown is most known for his defensive strengths and his offensive shortcomings and it will be interesting to see how he deals with Kobe as it seemed that Brown was not as stern with LeBron James as he should have been in his stint with Cleveland. The Lakers get a former Coach of the Year and someone who has had experience coaching an elite player. With all the circumstances involved and the short list [...]

Friends Of The Rapture: On Andrea Bargnani
This is the first of what I hope to be a series of guest articles by friends of mine in the NBA blogging community. This is Atique Virani’s (@upandatom786 on twitter) post on Andrea Bargnani and what the Raptors should do with him. Enjoy. On Andrea Bargnani Andrea Bargnani hasn’t performed like a number one pick. That isn’t news for anyone. The Italian big man, while showing flashes of All-Star scoring potential, has also shown flashes of D-League worthy defense. His rebounding has been just as bad. All in all, he hasn’t lived up to his top billing. But honestly, [...]
James Harden’s Flop (Video)
A few thoughts: This is what happens when you soften the game as much as David Stern has, this is something that never would have happened 15-20 years ago. Harden was clearly taking advantage of the new flagrant rules and the fact that no one would retaliate if he pulled it off. Harden should clearly be fined for this. The NBA just isn’t what it used to be. I sound awfully old for a 18 year old

Bryan Colangelo Gets His Extension: My Take
The Raptors decided to solve their ongoing GM issue heading into the Draft Lottery, giving current General Manager Bryan Colangelo a multi-year extension to stay with the franchise. In his five year tenure Colangelo has experienced both highs and lows with the franchise. Winning the Executive of the Year award in the 06-07 season when the Raptors won 47 games and captured the Atlantic Division crown. But in recent times Colangelo has been oft-criticized by fans, including me, for making questionable transactions and running a team that was once on the cusp of becoming a perennial playoff contender into the ground. Add [...]
