Game Preview #50 It's Magic

There is not much left to say about the Toronto Raptors season at this point. At 16-33 with 16 games left the season is pretty much over and attention is soon going to be fixed on the draft lottery and where the Raptors lottery balls will land.

However, the Raptors once again earned a moral victory in a 102-101 overtime loss to the Bulls Saturday night. Luol Deng broke Toronto’s hearts with a cheesy last second putback off of a James Johnson block on C.J. Miles giving the Bulls the victory. Dwane Casey said it was the “microcosm of this season” and it is hard to disagree, the Raptors have just failed to catch any breaks in a trying season.

Tonight, the Raptors get a chance to avenge a tough loss to the Magic in their last meeting when the refs seemed to call everything against the Dinos.

Expect the Raptors to give Jamaal Maglorie extended minutes tonight to deal with the always difficult match up that is Dwight Howard. In the last match up Maglorie looked to be able to match up with Howard physically and hopeful his hard nosed play will once again throw off the NBA’s best center.

Beyond Howard, the Raptors will have to close out on the Magic’s sharpshooters as J.J Redick and Ryan Anderson both can kill the Raptors from beyond the arc.

Former Raptor villain Hedo Turkoglu also makes his return to the ACC, expect the typical icy welcome from the Raptors faithful who still feel cheated from Hedo’s effort during his short one season stint with the squad in Chris Bosh’s infamous last season.
