A new poll and the results of our last two

I’m interested in your views on untouchable players on our roster. I ask because I’m fascinated by the number of times I see trade propositions involving Terrence Ross. Why you even contemplate trading him is beyond me, but perhaps I’m behind the curve. Is anyone truly “off limits?”

I’ve put together my list of untouchables, and I want to know whether you agree or disagree. I’ll allow multiple votes, so you can select up to 3 players you wouldn’t trade. Those of you who think the very idea of untouchable players is anathema will get a vote as well.

In our last poll, published just after the Rudy Gay trade was finalized, I asked about your emotional reaction to the deal. The largest number of votes went to “Good”, followed by “Great”. However, finishing a healthy third was “Enraged,” which is not an anti-Rudy comment, but one indicating the depth of feeling towards the loss of Jose Calderon and Ed Davis. “Indifferent”, which is the anti-Rudy vote, ran a respectable fourth and last.

I’m with the “Enraged” crowd, as I think we’ll be mourning the departure of Jose and Ed for a long time.

Prior to that, I asked you about adding some players from the D-League or overseas, as I thought we were dangerously short on bodies. I was a lonely guy on an ice floe with my concern, as a clear majority of you indicated no interest in expanding our roster.

Enraged is a bit much; it’s not as if we traded Jose/Davis for Gilbert Arenas…

Hi Sam: You may think so, but I can tell you from e-mail and comments from those close to me that the reaction was visceral. Jose was beloved – people didn’t want him traded to anyone, for anybody. I think your point is truer as it pertains to Ed. He was popular, but not to the same degree.
Jose & Ed for Gilbert Arenas – sounds like a deal Rob Babcock would make!
      Thanks for commenting.
