No professional league has embraced the relationship between social media and their sport more than the NBA. Raptors Rapture encourages that interaction by celebrating the most interesting comments on Twitter from the past week. Here are the Toronto Raptors related ‘Tweets of the Week.’

Basketball and Twitter go hand in hand in the same manner as egg and cheese or peanut butter and jam. Many Raptors fans reach for their phones immediately after they tune into the game. The action on twitter mid-game is sometimes more interesting than what is happening on the court.

The English Premier league is militant in their approach to shutting down any footage or highlights that is leaked online. Any highlight goal scored by Liverpool’s Phillipe Coutinho that gets posted by a fan is shut down within minutes. The Premier League wants to control every second of their content.

Meanwhile, the NBA and NCAA encourage fans to spread highlights.

Being involved with the game on Twitter is also an opportunity for fans to participate in the game without being 6-foot-7 and having a 50 inch vertical jump.

Most importantly, it’s just a good laugh.

Here are some of the best Raptor’s related Tweets of the Week from Raptors Rapture.

I’ve seen several heart felt letters and messages surrounding Cory Joseph’s departure to Indiana. It’s starting to come off like an ex-boyfriend trying to apologize to his girl after messing up the relationship.

@Moho35 reminds Raptors fans that we may have turned down the opportunity to trade Jonas Valanciunas in exchange for James Harden.

@Wethenorth_ Posted this footage of DeMar DeRozan taking a summer workout just a little too serious. How many of us have a guy on our rec league team that rolls like this?

Former North Carolina Tar Heel Kennedy Meeks was really impressive in NBA Summer League. Some quick highlights of Meeks.

A reminder of what we once had in Toronto with Vince Carter.
