Toronto Raptors: Predicting Delon Wright’s Market
What Teams Are Paying For
At 6’5, Delon Wright provides the length and height to defend positions 1 through 3 including some small ball power forwards. There are times when Kyle Lowry, Fred VanVleet, and Delon Wright all share the court at the same time and he would be able to hold his own defensively. Delon also uses his height to see over the defense when making difficult passes. He came into the league with great court vision and a crafty skillset when finishing at the rim.
The talk of last season was the increase in 3pt attempts from DeMar DeRozan and Jonas Valanciunas. However, Delon Wright’s improvement from the three-point line and the free throw line has gone unnoticed by some. He got his three-point % up from 33% to 37% which is just above the league average. He also improved his free throw percentage from 76% to 83%. Delon’s defensive versatility and improved jump shot to go along with his passing and finishing could get him the main backup, or even a starting, point guard role on some NBA teams.
