Toronto Raptors: Predicting Delon Wright’s Market
What Teams Should Be Cautious About
Delon’s length and quickness give him an advantage over some guards, but he struggles with players that are stronger than him. If Kay Felder and Chris Boucher fail to make the roster, this would be Delon’s fourth consecutive year with the lowest weight on the team. A team with Kawhi, OG Anunoby, Danny Green, and Pascal Siakam makes this a small issue, but he may not have that luxury on a different team.
As gifted as Delon is when creating for others, there are times when some of his passes seem unnecessary. His speed and wingspan allows him to get to the rim easier and should result in an open layup. His passive tendencies sometimes prevent that from happening which results in a wide-open opportunity turning into a forced kick out. It has come to the point where it can get predictable and could create turnovers.
Delon Wright is only entering his fourth NBA year, yet not many teams will see him as their point guard for the future. Although he is a much-improved shooter, Delon is already 26 years old. Most teams can’t afford to invest long term on a backup point guard who may have already entered the prime of his career.
