DaQuan Jeffries

DaQuan Jeffries is a versatile combo forward out of the University of Tulsa. Last season he averaged 13 points, 5.6 rebounds, 1.2 blocks and 1.0 steal per game while shooting 36.6 percent from three-point range.

Jeffries had a strong showing at the 2019 Portsmouth Invitational Tournament averaging 16.3 points and 7.7 rebounds. After that, he was invited to participate in the G League Elite Camp. Jeffries impressed scouts yet again and he was one of 11 players who were added to the NBA Draft Combine.

Jeffries is older than most prospects, thereby limiting his perceived upside. He will turn 22 before the start of next season. But Jeffries also has good size for a modern forward. He measured 6-foot-5 (in shoes) with a 6-foot-11.25 wingspan at last month’s Draft Combine. Jeffries weighed in at 215 points and has an NBA ready body.

Jeffries looks the part of a 3-and-D player. He is a strong, explosive player, capable of making plays on both ends of the floor. With his length, Jeffries should be able to guard multiple positions in the NBA. He has a build similar to P.J. Tucker, who was a second-round pick of the Raptors back in 2006.

Since the process started, Jeffries has been rising on most draft boards (ESPN – 44; SI – 52; CBS – 46). As a result, he might not be available when the Raptors are selecting. But the Raptors clearly have interest. Jeffries was part of the first group to workout for the Raptors back in early May.
