Toronto Raptors: Top five performances from an up-and-down Week 11
3. Kyle Lowry
Opponent: Cleveland Cavaliers
Stat line: 24 points, 1 rebound, 8 assists, 1 block
After an absolute juggernaut of performances from Kyle Lowry last week, he was looking to keep up the momentum this week as the team ushered in the new year and decade with Lowry as their defacto leader. In an easy matchup against Collin Sexton and Darius Garland, Lowry was looking to take advantage of the weak defense.
Lowry, however, took it slow to start off the game. He was focused more on getting his teammates involved and facilitating the offense as he ended the first quarter with two points and three assists on 1-of-1 shooting as the Raptors got off to a two-point lead.
Lowry did pick it up in the second as he was clearly looking more aggressive on the offensive end. He finished the quarter with 11 points, one rebound and two assists on 3-of-8 shooting as the Raptors lead stretched to 16 points heading into halftime.
With the lead already at double digits, all the Raptors needed to do was maintain the lead for another quarter and a half so that the starters could get the rest they deserved. Lowry knowing that went in attack mode again in the third as he finished the quarter with 11 points on 3-of-5 shooting to go along with one assist and a block as the Raptors had a 17 point lead heading into the fourth.
With the game seemingly out of reach, Lowry took his foot off the pedal and only played five minutes resulting in two assists for him as the Raptors comfortably took the game by 20.
Week by week, Lowry continues to prove all of his haters wrong and continues to produce an All-Star caliber season. He finished the week with averages of 21.6 points, 3.0 rebounds, 7.0 assists and a surprising 1.0 block per game.
