Raptors writers roundtable: Thoughts on the first half of 2020-21
By Mike Luciano
Question No. 5: How far will the Raptors go in the playoffs?
ML: This team could go to the second round of the postseason, but they could run into a wall in that round. They took down Milwaukee in the regular season, but can they really compete with Milwaukee, Philadelphia, or Brooklyn in a seven-game series?
JL: I seriously believe this team can do damage in the postseason. The culture and chemistry this team has is undeniable and if Masai can make a few deadline deals, don’t be surprised to see the Raps in the Eastern Conference Finals.
AS: Second Round. They’re not beating the Bucks, Sixers, or Nets.
BF: Whether through the play-in tournament or their own top-six merits, I certainly see the Raptors being in the Eastern Conference playoff picture, but that might be as much as they can hope for. The Sixers, Nets, Bucks, Celtics and Heat all seem to be rounding into some kind of form and you probably can’t get out of the first round without going through one of them.
PG: The Raptors will be a top five team in the East by the time the season is over. As long as they don’t face the Brooklyn Nets, the Milwaukee Bucks, or the Philadelphia 76ers in the first round, they can go to the second round.
