Raptors scenario No. 3: Toronto doesn’t get a young guard in a trade

The Heat are a particularly attractive trade target for the Raptors, as they have a few young guards in Tyler Herro, Kendrick Nunn, and Duncan Robinson that could be sent up north as a result of a potential deal.

As much as it hurts to say, 2020-21 might be over for the Raptors, as making the play-in tournament as a 10-seed, while still a worthwhile goal to pursue, will not change the fact that the Raptors need some serious overhauling in the offseason. Adding a guard like Herro could help change that.

The Raptors need to restock for the future

Getting draft picks is nice, especially since Masai Ujiri and Bobby Webster have found it difficult to acquire tons of draft capital over the last few years. However, allowing one of the two big names to go for a package of picks and some marginal talent would be a failure of the most egregious order.

Even if talks are slow, Ujiri needs to make sure that sticks to his asking price. Don’t just make a trade for the sake of making a trade. these are prized assets, and the Raptors need to add value in a hurry.
