The Rundown: January 31, 2010

AUTHOR: | IN: The Rundown | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

It is Monday, forget about school and work and sit back with some NBA action. On to the Rundown Toronto at Indiana (7:00 PM) Toronto looks to end their losing streak, Indiana looks to move on without Jim O’Brien at the helm. Should be an interesting game. Why You Should Watch: This may actually be the night Toronto end the losing streak, which means they won’t try and end up losing by twenty. Denver at New Jersey (7:00 PM) Melo heads to the team he was “supposed” to end up with. Don’t worry the announcers will remind you of this [...]

The Rundown: January 27, 2011

It is TNT Thursday, let’s get stoked on it. On to the Rundown Miami at New York (8:00 PM) Chris Bosh is out with an ankle, Wade has with “Pippen-like migraines” but it is the Heat and it is at MSG. I have a slight feeling this one is going to be good. Why You Should Watch: Either you see LeBron go off or you see the MSG crowd get under his skin, I call this a win-win situation Houston at Dallas (8:30 PM) The battle of Texas gets the undercard tonight as the Mavericks and Rockets do battle while 90% [...]

Rappin’ It Up: 76ers 107 Raptors 94

Zones. Are. For. Cowards. As you may already know I am from the “zones are for cowards” faith, but if that zone is played aggressively and most importantly keeps guys on the perimeter I see its merits. The Raptors zone did the exact opposite. Marreese Speights who got 23 points in the post said of the zone, “It was pretty easy,” ”The zone wasn’t really that hard to break.” Lou Williams continued, saying,”We knew they were going to play some zone and we knew where the weaknesses were inside of that zone, we just attacked it and it worked for us.” [...]

Raptors Game Preview: Philadelphia, The Importance of a Winnable Game

AUTHOR: | IN: Game Preview | COMMENTS: None Yet

The NBA is a league of sporadic effort. We all know this, teams try harder at home, when they are playing a marquee team, when they are ESPN or TNT, on the first half of a back to back, and forget about getting a good shooting performance for an afternoon game. The Toronto Raptors are Exhibit A of the “Sporadic Effort Trap” The Raptors as we all know, have been a major disappointment so far, yes they are extremely shorthanded are missing Reggie Evans, I know Calderon and Bayless are banged up. BUT 13-32 in a weak Eastern Conference is far [...]

The Rundown: January 26, 2010

AUTHOR: | IN: Raptors | COMMENTS: None Yet

Well it is a lackluster Wednesday slate, let’s try to make these games interesting. On to the Rundown (all times Eastern) Orlando at Indiana (7:00 PM) Indiana looks revenge in the rematch of the 1995 Conference Finals. Why You Should Watch: The Pacers have a real shot at playing the Knicks in the playoffs, and we know that would be good for everybody. And by everybody we mean for Reggie Miller. Memphis at New Jersey (7:00 PM) Memphis looks to keep ninth place in the West, clinch a playoff spot in the East. Why You Should Watch: The chance this [...]

What If: The Raptors Resigned Tracy McGrady?

AUTHOR: | IN: Raptors | COMMENTS: 4 Comments

For my first official post I would like to give you one of my favorite columns I have ever written, this article appeared on Oncourt Onslaught, please check them out. Saturday while the Raptors were taking a 40 point thumping from Orlando my friend and I decided to have one of our depressing talks about Raptor history. As always it came back to the 2001 Playoffs, where as many people know, Vince Carter went to his college graduation before Game Seven and missed a buzzer beater to send the Raptors to the Eastern Conference Finals. If the Raptors won that [...]

Hi, I am Chase Ruttig the new Lead Blogger for Raptors Rapture, whcih as the title may indicate is about the Toronto Raptors. Which means a few things:

A lot of talk about Andrea Bargnani’s rebounding numbers
Completely biased opinions on Hedo Turkoglu, Vince Carter, and Chris Bosh
Hope for the future and realism for the present
To start things off I thought I would introduce myself with a few tidbits about the mysterious enigma that is Chase Ruttig (Last time talking in the third person I promise)
