Grading the Toronto Raptors’ offseason pickups

Luis Scola (PF 1 year/3 mil): B-

There’s not a huge amount to say about Scola apart from the fact that he wasn’t the power forward offseason upgrade Raptors fans were looking for. On a positive note, he is a league veteran and can give the younger guys in the locker room some of his knowledge.

He averaged 9.4 points in 20.5 minutes per game last year for the Indiana Pacers, backing up David West. Scola, who grabbed 6.5 rebounds per game, will aid the Raptors with rebounding efficiently.

The Argentinian is going to be a serviceable backup PF to Patrick Patterson, but nothing special beyond that. $3 million also isn’t the biggest of contracts so it’s a not a bad signing, but it isn’t a great one either.
