Traded Carlos Delfino and Roko Ukic to Milwaukee Bucks for Sonny Weems and Amir Johnson.

Few of us took much note of this trade when it occurred, as it appeared to be yet another minor swap of the kind which occur frequently. Yet Raptors GM Bryan Colangelo displayed some far-farsightedness here. The two players he gave up were inconsequential, and Sonny Weems flamed out in the NBA and went to Russia (though he’ll be back next year as a Phoenix Sun). However, Amir Johnson gave Toronto 6 fine seasons, before signing with Boston last month. He remains one of the most beloved Raptors ever, forging a bond with fans and the city like few players ever have. As a player, he hustles, rebounds, defends and pops in the occasional basket. While his 2-year, $24M deal with the Celtics has been called an over-pay, I suspect Bostonians will be most happy with Amir.

I wish all our back-of-the-rotation trades could turn out so well.
