Shooting for a shooting guard’s spot
Depth Chart: nobody(!), Delon Wright, Norman Powell
Analysis: DeMar averaged 35 minutes per game last season, and I’m certain coach Casey will like to keep him at that number or even less. Behind DD are a couple of rookies, unless Terrence Ross gets slotted in. Both the kids are going to receive long looks. Delon is interesting because he’s far more likely to grab some minutes at the point than Norman.
Norman emerged from obscurity, first by being drafted at all, then by playing so well in Summer League the Raptors signed him. Can he work himself onto the big team’s roster, or is he more likely to need some seasoning with the 905 minor leaguers?
Conclusion: Delon will have every chance to make the team, and as the first-rounder he’s the glamour choice. Regardless, Norman will make him earn his minutes.
