Up until this season, the Raptors haven’t had too many injury concerns. However, no team and player can avoid that nasty injury bug for long.
In the past four weeks, we’ve seen Carroll, Ross and most recently Valanciunas go down with injuries. Of the three, JV hurts the most. Suffering a fractured hand in the win against the Lakers, JV is expected to miss up to six weeks, as per Toronto Star’s Doug Smith. In his place, Biyombo will more than likely get the start, which means the Raptors with have to keep it simple offensively.
Where Carroll is concerned, he’s suffering from plantar fasciitis which will most likely nag him for most of the season. He has already missed three game so far, but hasn’t shown any ill effects. And tweaking a ligament in his thumb will not help Ross’ consistency issues in the least, who returned on Friday after missing six games.
We definitely wish JV a speedy recovery, and hope that there are no more injury bugs this year.
