Surprising production and versatility from the 4 position

The glaring hole in the Raptors lineup has luckily been covered up by interesting quick-fixes so far this season. You can’t complain about starter Luis Scola’s 10 points and 6 rebounds per game. On the other hand, you can complain about Patrick Patterson’s abysmal 31% from 3-point territory, but not when he is limiting his men under 40% from the field.
It’s not perfect but it has been fine. Just fine. The results have given coach Dwane Casey interesting roster choices with James Johnson, DeMarre Carroll, and even DeMar DeRozan at the 4 in very small lineups.
The platoon 4 spot will be an on-going experiment, but the early results are in, and it’s been a healthy surprise.
