1 – Point Guard

  1. Kyle Lowry – He’s back for another tilt with the Beasts from the East. He’s 31, and has absorbed a significant pounding throughout his career. Still, there’s no reason to think he won’t be ready to provide another All-Star calibre season.
  2. Delon Wright – The trade of Cory Joseph was a clear indication of confidence in Delon. He will be given the opportunity to play the bulk of the backup minutes. What will be interesting is to see how often coach Dwane Casey plays Delon and Kyle together.
  3. Fred VanVleet – Lowry 2.0. He’s not a star in the making, but is a useful reserve. If Delon flunks his audition, Fred can step in.

Conclusion: The backups are unproven, but I don’t expect that to be a problem. Continuity prevails at a critical position.
