4 – Power Forward

  1. Serge Ibaka – I’d rather see him here than at center, largely because he’ll find a lot more room to set up and hit long balls at the 4-spot. Defensively he can commit to blocking shots more aggressively with Jonas Valanciunas behind him to grab rebounds than otherwise.
  2. Pascal Siakam – I’m going to be stubborn about this. He’s a small forward; he runs the floor, can create his own shot off the dribble, isn’t bulky enough to push around other fours. I think his ceiling is quite high, but not at this position.

Conclusion: The departure of Patrick Patterson shouldn’t be a body blow. Both our men are mobile, and in a small-ball world, that’s what counts.
