What he provides

Even at his advanced age, Vince Carter is still useful on the court. While his athleticism is greatly diminished, Carter still has a little more boost in his legs than one would think. He has developed a nice three-point game and has a great basketball IQ.

What the really provides to any team is leadership. Although never having won an NBA championship, Vince has been through the ringer and is a respected locker-room presence around the league.

How he fits in

If Carter were to be acquired by the Raptors he likely would rarely, if ever, see the court. He would provide veteran leadership that is reliant on so many young players. Him getting to play what appears to be his last year as a Raptor is just a bonus.

Path to acquiring him

It is unclear if the Sacramento Kings are going to part way with Vince. They certainly are not expecting to win many games this season and any minutes he plays is soaking valuable time away from a young player. However, he is a good locker-room guy and the Kings might want to keep him around to guide their young rookies.
