10 greatest moments in Raptors history
By Brian Boake
In what I regard as the best trade in Raptors history, Bryan Colangelo acquired the alleged coach-killing point guard Kyle Lowry from the Houston Rockets. The price for the energetic Lowry was Toronto’s #1 pick and guard Gary Forbes. WHAT…you don’t remember Gary Forbes?
Yes, the conditional pick (which became Steven Adams) was valuable – Mr. Forbes, not so much. He never played another NBA minute.
Since Lowry became the starter at the point, the Raptors have never failed to win less than 48 games. The team has made five straight playoff appearances during what has been by far its best run as an organization.
Kyle has twice signed contract extensions, and has built a famous bromance with DeMar DeRozan. Yes, their play in the post-season has been disappointing. But we wouldn’t be there without them. Getting Kyle for such a cheap price was a remarkable coup and worthy of our top ten.
