Predicting The Makeup Of The Toronto Raptors In 2021
Our starters look strong
Toronto’s starting rotation now looks like this:
PG: Fred VanVleet
SG: Andrew Wiggins
SF: Kawhi Leonard
PF: OG Anunoby
C: Pascal Siakam
6: Kyle Lowry
Having an elite duo of wings in the lineup makes Fred VanVleet’s job much easier. The now 27-year old averaged a modest 12 points per game and dished out 9 assists per game on the year.
OG Anunoby benefited tremendously from the NBA’s continual change in style of play. At 6’8 Anunoby could rotate through the lineup and play shooting guard through centre. However, in the Raptors’ new starting five he was best utilized as a defense-frist power forward.
In 2020 Anunoby was recognized with a nomination for Defensive Player of the Year.
Nick Nurse is still the Head Coach of your Toronto Raptors. With Nurse being a strong offensive minded coach he is able to ensure that every piece of the puzzle finds it’s perfect fit. His strong relationship with Kyle Lowry was key in convincing the savvy vet to come off of the bench.
Another area of Nurse’s expertise has been his ability to manage ego’s. Managing a team with two All-Star talents and a handful of young stars is no easy task however, he has been able to get everyone to buy into the system.
Kyle Lowry has shined in his role as the “sixth man.” The former All-Star still approaches every play with his pitbull mentality and gets more time to rest and heal throughout the season. Lowry averages a modest 10 points and 4 assists per game.
