Why Butler wants out

Coming out of high school, Butler was not heavily recruited. He played one season of junior college before transferring to Marquette. All of Butler’s hard work resulted in him becoming a first-round draft pick.

Butler wants his teammates to work just as hard as he does. That is one of the main reasons Tom Thibodeau brought Butler to Minnesota. He wanted Butler to teach Towns and Wiggins how to be professionals and reach their potential.

Last season, Butler led the Wolves in both points and minutes per game. He was named to the All-Star team for the fourth time. Butler was also named to the NBA All-Defensive Second Team and All-NBA Third Team.

It is not surprising that Butler wants a change of scenery. Butler is one of the top-15 best basketball players on the planet. ESPN ranked Butler as number 14. Sports Illustrated has him at number 10.

Butler is one of the best two-way players in the NBA. He is also 29 years old and doesn’t want to waste the prime of his career with a fringe playoff team. Butler wants to compete for a championship.

In the 90s, star players wanted to be the man. They didn’t want to team up with other stars. The top guys wanted to prove that they were capable of leading a team to the promised land. That is no longer the case.

Everything changed in 2010 with The Decision. Now the Golden State Warriors have been to four straight NBA Finals. They have won three championships. It doesn’t appear that their reign will be coming to an end anytime soon. This has led to other star players deciding to team up in an attempt to knock off the Warriors.
