Toronto Raptors: Will C.J. Miles Take A Big Leap Next Season?
C.J. Miles is looking forward to the new season, his second with the Raptors. Can he enjoy greater success than last, when constant problems affected his performance?
C.J. Miles had an underwhelming season last year. After leaving the Pacers to sign with the Raptors, his numbers took an unexpected dip last year despite having a higher usage percentage with Toronto. However, there were some factors that might have affected his play including a few injuries and preparing for the birth of his child. With new additions this season, particularly to the two wing positions, Miles will have to improve his numbers to keep his spot in the rotation.
C.J. Miles is entering his 14th NBA season at the age of 31. Next year, he will have the option to decline $8.7 million and enter free agency. There’s a chance that he decides to opt-in and stay with the team, or even decline the money after having a great shooting season in the playoffs.
With a full year with his new team, Miles should be ready to fit into the offense and contribute as a veteran sharpshooter with the bench unit. The discussion on the role and skill-set that Miles will bring next season will include the good and bad things that we saw from him last year. His fit with the team now that Kawhi Leonard and Danny Green are Raptors will also be discussed as well as his expectations for this season.
With a new year, a player option, and potentially a new role ahead for Miles, he will have a huge chip on his soldier this season. So what should we expect from him?
