Toronto Raptors: Whose stock is rising/falling after week four?
Kyle Lowry – Stock Down
Please don’t panic Toronto, this is just a blip and barely worth mentioning. But here we go…
Saturday’s rout of the Knicks was a relatively quiet affair for Lowry, he was 3-6 from the field and 1-4 from three-point range. He still dished out eight assists and has done a great job of getting the team involved in an offense predicated on movement. Add in zero turnovers and you can see that other than his poor shooting, he didn’t exactly do anything wrong.
He guarded Ntilikina for the majority of the game and kept him quiet too. Maybe it was a match-up against a bigger point guard that Lowry at bay for most of the day or maybe it was just an off day.
However, Monday was a different animal. Step to the plate, Jrue Holiday.
Holiday was all over Lowry and made his night miserable. Kyle’s poor shooting continued with a 1-9 showing, 0-6 from three. Holiday stuck to Lowry like glue and forced him into some poor shooting looks, or forced him to not shoot at all. In truth, it was just a night to forget for Lowry on the shooting side of things. He still had 11 assists, so, still moving the ball around well.
Things picked up a bit for Lowry against the Pistons on Wednesday night, he had 14 points on six of ten shooting and 1-3 from three. It was the first time since the Utah game that he had shot over 25-percent from three. A poor assist-to-turnover ratio let him down though, as the Raptors came unstuck in the second half.
He’s still willing to do the gritty stuff on defense though, that rebound in a field of giants was inspiring.
If this is a bad week for Kyle Lowry, then things are pretty good at the moment. Please don’t worry.
