Toronto Raptors: 6ix Takes – Lowry’s shooting woes a ‘pesky’ problem for Dinos
By Jordan Skuse
3. At the current asking price, ‘just say no’ to Bradley Beal
The constant chatter about Beal’s future being in Washington is, among other things, intriguing, with some suggesting a trade with Toronto could best suit both parties.
Treating everything as hearsay unless it comes from the team directly, the Wizards, in previous discussions, reportedly were asking for both Pascal Siakam and OG Anunoby (along with picks) in order to facilitate a Beal trade.
Siakam is the deal breaker. As high as one may be on Anunoby, I’d include him in a Beal deal any day of the week. I say that because I think, once the dust settles, sometime in mid-July, Kawhi Leonard will re-sign with Toronto. With Leonard locked up, Anunoby is expendable (perhaps an unpopular take).
All that said, I believe this team is good enough to win a title without Beal, though I will say this…the adventurous part of my brain wonders just how dangerous Toronto would be with him starting and Danny Green coming off the bench. But it’s my human side that can’t accept the deal.
Beal is, dare I say it, an upgrade over Lowry. Does Masai even entertain that trade though? *I’m cringing imagining that — I feel dirty now* — I think losing both Lowry and DeRozan in the same season might be too much for the Raptors faithful to handle…*hang up the phone*
It’s all fun to think about, but if I’m being honest, I want Lowry to win a title in Toronto. And I’m just not ready to cheer for Bradley Beal on a basketball court.
(all the best to him off it)
