You play GM: Decide the fate of the Toronto Raptors offseason
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope & James Ennis
You decided to move forward with Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and James Ennis. A summer after making $12 million with the Lakers, Caldwell-Pope has a significantly lesser market than he did just a year ago.
KCP’s effort waxed and waned defensively in L.A., something that he’ll need to fix if he wants to be a starter-quality player once again. Signing Pope to a one-year deal is a low-risk proposition which could pay-off significantly. After his most recent down-year, he might even agree to a team-option in the second year of the deal.
After being a part of the 76ers playoff rotation last season, James Ennis elected to decline his veteran’s minimum player option. Although he’ll be getting more than the minimum, he won’t be getting much more. A $3.6 million deal is about the market for Ennis, who at least has proven he can play in a high-leverage playoff series without being embarrassed.
A playoff quality player at $3.6 million? That’s not bad.
Next, you’ll need to sign three minimum contracts, a wing and a point guard.
A couple of possible guard options:
- Raymond Felton
- Isaiah Thomas
- Rajon Rondo
- Shelvin Mack
A couple of possible wing options:
- Thabo Sefolosha
- Alec Burks
- Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot
- Jodie Meeks
For illustrative purposes, we will move forward with Shelvin Mack and Thabo Sefolosha, but you can choose whoever you’d like.
That means the final roster you’ve chosen is:
- Point Guard: Kyle Lowry, Fred VanVleet, Shelvin Mack
- Shooting Guard: Norman Powell, Rodney Hood
- Small Forward: OG Anunoby, Jodie Meeks, Malcolm Miller
- Power forward: Pascal Siakam, Wilson Chandler, Chris Boucher
- Center: Marc Gasol, Serge Ibaka, Dewan Hernandez
Not happy with the results? Feel free to start back over.
