Make a big splash trade

Success in the NBA is fleeting. When a team appears to be setup (the Boston Celtics), it can still fall apart in an instance. That’s why the Toronto Raptors need to make every effort to contend while they still can.

Kyle Lowry and Marc Gasol each getting a year older only reinforces that point. They still are incredibly intelligent and effective players, but they don’t have the offensive punch that they once used too. Toronto needs a third star to pair next to Leonard and Siakam moving forward.

It really isn’t up to the Raptors who they add. Both of these players might not be available this offseason, and who you decide to add should be based on how likely they are to be dealt as much as you like them.

Of the big-time players who might be dealt this postseason, there are two which fit on the Raptors. Toronto already has a point guard, a superstar small forward, a young stud power forward, and a clearly defined center. Finding a good fit isn’t easy.

The price also won’t be cheap. Without a ton of assets to entice rebuilding teams, Toronto will need to give up real young players and throw in draft capital from a few years down the road. Adding another big-name to this group isn’t easy, and if the Raptors do it, they’ll truly be all-in.

So take your pick of big splash trades:
