Danny Green posted a podcast on Wednesday night, talking about his potential plans for next season. A couple of things jumped out from a Toronto Raptors perspective.

As Toronto Raptors fans wait for the announcement of Kawhi Leonard‘s decision, a couple of players also are stuck waiting. The most notable of those players — at least from our perspective — is Danny Green.

Green currently sits in limbo as he awaits on Leonard’s camp to make a decision. At the moment, it sounds like Green is choosing between three teams, the Los Angeles Lakers, the Dallas Mavericks, and of course, the Toronto Raptors.

In a short 20-minute podcast Green answered some questions about his upcoming free agency. During the interview, a couple of things stood out:

He seems annoyed by Kawhi Leonard’s timing

Fair or not, he seemed very annoyed by Kawhi’s timely process. Green’s free agency is linked pretty tightly with Leonard’s decision, so every day Kawhi waits, Green has to as well.

The only problem: One of Green’s deals is independent of Leonard. The Dallas Mavericks are one of the remaining teams bidding on Danny Green, and they almost certainly want to wrap this up right now.

It makes sense from both sides. Leonard needs to make the best decision for himself personally. But at the same time, I understand why DG is frustrated. Nothing Green said was overly pointed or critical. However, you could hear the shortness in his tone.

Said doesn’t think will wait longer than a day or so

While discussing Leonard’s lack of decision, Green mentioned that he hopes to make a decision “in the next day or so.”  That’s a bad sign for the Raptors. If Green does have to make his decision before Kawhi, it’s almost certain he’ll be signing with the Dallas Mavericks, the one team who doesn’t care where Kawhi goes.

Listed fit, contract, contention

When asked the three items he cares about most, Danny Green listed fit, contract, contention. For Toronto, that’s a good sign. Provided Kawhi re-signs, the Raptors can offer all three. He’s the starting shooting guard, the Raptors are defending NBA Champions, and Toronto can pay him as much as they want.

His phone is down right now

This doesn’t have anything to do with free agency destination but is funny nonetheless. From what it sounds like, Green’s phone bill wasn’t paid on time, and now he doesn’t have service. He’s only receiving Imessages and can’t connect without WiFi. The man is waiting on multiple eight-figure offers and doesn’t have phone service.

Next. Serge Ibaka, not Danny Green, should be a potential cap casualty. dark

Turn on inside the green room notifications

It’s no surprise, but on the podcast, they mention they will be tweeting the decision from the “Inside the Green Room Twitter”. If you don’t have notification alerts from their account, now might be the time to turn them on.
