As part of our fan favourite week, we decided to ask you, the fans, who was the Toronto Raptors all-time fan favourite? Now, we’ve made it to the final four.
And then there were four. After some hard-fought rounds and several deserving candidates being eliminated, the Toronto Raptors fan favourite bracket is down to just four players. Two more rounds, three more eliminations, and just one ultimate fan favourite remain.
Perhaps one of the most noticeable trends of the tourney so far — fans love them so big men. Three of the remaining four participants played in the post. Even many of the big men who have been eliminated were close to moving on.
In the round of 16, we saw a few blowouts, with Morris Peterson, Jonas Valanciunas, and Bismack Biyombo all grabbing more than 80-percent of the vote. The elite eight, however, was a little more competitive. As the cream rises to the top, these two matchups should both be nailbiters.
A reminder of our criteria: This is not a bracket of the Toronto Raptors most popular players in franchise history. Being a fan favourite has slightly different criteria.
A fan favourite is how beloved a player is relative to his production. Obviously, players like Kyle Lowry, DeMar DeRozan, and Kawhi Leonard made a larger impact on the franchise than everyone in this tournament. But that doesn’t necessarily make them fan favourites.
There are no All-Stars on this list and no players who were once the best member of the team. The Ultimate Fan Favourite is meant to represent the players beloved by Toronto Raptors fans, even if the casual NBA fan didn’t notice them.
So like the 2016 Raptors, we’ve finally made it to the semi-finals. Here’s the final four of the bracket.
