1. vs Los Angeles Clippers – December 11

Oh boy, there is no other game that it could have been. It’s the return of Kawhi Leonard to the Scotiabank Arena.

After winning his second, and the Raptors first, NBA championship, Leonard left the Raptors, opting to return home to L.A. and join the Los Angeles Clippers. He didn’t go alone, though. Moments after it was revealed that Leonard had elected to join the Clippers we were treated to the news that L.A. had gone one better and traded for Paul George.

Suddenly, the Clippers became the title favourites, and how.

The Clippers have applied themselves with a team full gritty defenders and hark workers, the perfect combination when coupled with talents like George and Leonard. Los Angeles now has two title contenders on the scene, as opposed to the customary, well, none.

This game is all about Kawhi Leonard, though. Expect a raucous reception for the two-time Finals MVP. Leonard was a shining star for the Raptors en route to the Finals, producing a historically impressive postseason.

Producing moment after moment, Leonard helped the Raptors to get to the top of the mountain. Whether they can stay there without him is a different question, but expect fireworks when he returns to the city he called home for a year.

Sure, Leonard deserves a reception like no other, don’t expect the Raptors to lie down in this game. It’ll be one of the feel-good moments of the year, with Leonard receiving his ring, but it’s business as usual once the game tips off.

Regardless, it’s the most anticipated game of the year.
