Toronto Raptors: Where would Pascal Siakam go in 2016 NBA re-draft?
Selected by the Toronto Raptors with 27th overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft, Pascal Siakam has exceeded all expectations so far in his career. Where would he be picked if there was a redraft?
When the Toronto Raptors selected Pascal Siakam in the 2016 NBA Draft, no one really knew what to expect from the New Mexico State product. Basketball, beyond a recreational level, was still a relatively new experience.
Picked with the 27th pick in the draft, Siakam was the definition of a project. A player that had all the athletic tools to be successful, but he was a very raw prospect. Whether or not the Raptors could pry that potential out of him would be an interesting process.
Now, heading into Siakam’s fourth season, we know the answer. Pascal Siakam is a star, a true star. In three years, his game has developed tremendously. From spending large amounts of time on-call with the Raptors 905, Siakam became a member of the dynamic “Bench Mob” that run second-units amock on the NBA two years ago.
Last year was his breakout season. Siakam won the NBA’s Most Improved Player award as the Raptors hustled their way to their first-ever NBA title, with Siakam proving to be instrumental along the way.
Now that we know what exactly Siakam is, teams will be kicking themselves that they didn’t have the wherewithal to pick him up and see what could happen. The 2016 NBA Draft wasn’t a stacked draft by any means, but there were some nice players that made it to NBA rosters and other players who were picked that just haven’t worked out. Yet, anyway.
Dragan Bender was picked fourth overall by the Phoenix Suns, you could probably guess that they would want to redo that pick. Now they have the chance. What if the 2016 NBA Draft was redone?
Would Ben Simmons still go number one overall, and would the Los Angeles Lakers still take Brandon Ingram?
And, most importantly, where would Pascal Siakam be drafted?
