Kyle Lowry plays the loyal and unwavering Ron Weasley

Much like Ron Weasley, Kyle Lowry has been a faithful and loyal friend to Raptors nation. Beyond his production on the court, he is also the conscience of the team. As an undersized and sometimes undervalued player, he’s proven his gumption multiple times and on the biggest stage.

Ron does much of the same. While always looking out for his friend, Harry, Ron weaves his way through tricky stages of wizardry to end up as a strong wizard, who doesn’t back down from grand villains.

Moreover, Ron is likely the most easily relatable character in the world of Harry Potter. Not all of us can be the smartest like Hermione or the most gifted like Harry. Most of us have to work hard and battle our way through our own lack of confidence to come out on top.

Lowry is no different.

As fans, we can only imagine what it is like being an NBA player, and most of us aren’t 6-foot-5 or taller to start those dreams. Rather, when we see Lowry weaving and meandering among the NBA trees, we can envision ourselves making our way to the basket. While doing so, Lowry isn’t usually performing some gifted dribbling wizardry of his own–he is likely doing so with stutter steps and pump fakes to get just an inch of space.

These are learned skills–ones that take years of practice–rather than gifts bestowed upon birth. Likewise, Lowry sticks to his guns and follows directions even when the master plan wasn’t of his own creation.
