Pascal Siakam is the most likely to become our titular hero, Harry Potter.

The writing was on the wall for the likes of DeMar DeRozan and Kawhi Leonard. If DeMar had accomplished what Kawhi did, then he would be considered our Harry. If Kawhi had stayed in Toronto then he would be considered our Harry.

Yet, both players didn’t do those things which left an uneasy void in our journey. But, there are breadcrumbs of parallels between Harry and Pascal Siakam that may make the case for Siakam as our upcoming hero.

Harry didn’t know that he was a wizard for many years. Despite the fact that he was well-known within the wizarding community, he got a late start when it came to his studies. Siakam is one and the same. He didn’t play basketball until in his late teen years and was discovered as a diamond in the rough. Still, he didn’t let his newness to the sport sway him from his competitive edge and Siakam has quickly made a household name for himself in Toronto and in the NBA.

Although Harry was well-known, he still had to prove himself in the wizarding world. Quickly, as we found out, Harry was an adept wizard and able to produce strong spells at a remarkably young age.

Siakam, likewise, has constantly shown up on the basketball court. He has improved immensely over his short basketball career and things look as if they will continue in a positive trajectory. But, like Harry, Siakam will have to overcome some growing pains and summon from himself the ability to win at all costs while being the focal point of the offense.

This will take great sacrifice, mind you, but it is something that Siakam is capable of. In this coming season, the Raptors will learn if Siakam has the ability to shine as Harry Potter does at the end of the book series. If so, then the Raptors have a building block for a future team that will be capable of championship-caliber play.

But, if not, they will have another Ron Weasley on their hands and they will seek out a Harry to join them at all costs. Like it or not, Siakam has big shoes to fill for the upcoming season, but he is perfectly capable of taking his play to the next level.
