Money and value is the name of the game in the NBA, so what contracts give the Toronto Raptors the most bang for their buck?
The Toronto Raptors have a well know reputation around the NBA for having a stellar front office. Toronto has been one of the best drafting teams in the NBA and has done an excellent job developing young players over the years.
It’s safe to say that when it comes to excellence at the executive level, the Raptors are at the top of that list.
However, the one area where Masai Urjiri and the Raptor’s executives might excel at the most is managing contracts of their players. Toronto has had a number of players on bargain contracts over the years, and there has never been a situation where the Raptors have completely strapped themselves with a bad deal. This kind of money management by Urjiri and the front office has kept the Raptors as one of the more consistent franchises in the NBA.
The Toronto Raptors’ team salary coming into the 2019-20 season is $129 million (according to Spotrac), approximately $20 million over the cap.
Despite being over the salary cap, the Raptors have one of the most flexible cap-situations in the NBA. The majority of their players are only on the payroll for this season, giving the Raptors a good amount of cap room moving forward. How they decide to use that cap-space is a conversation for another day.
What they also have, is a good amount of bargain contracts. Which of those contracts provides the most value? Five stick out above the rest.
