Toronto Raptors Fantasy Basketball: Who should you target?
Serge Ibaka:
Serge Ibaka has been a mercurial fantasy contributor throughout his career. An elite fantasy asset in the prime of his career due to his rare combination of three-point and block production, Ibaka devolved into a block specialist this past fantasy season.
At a projected sub-100 draft position (103), Serge is being taken after Delon Wright, Marvin Williams, and Thaddeus Young. Another beneficiary of Kawhi’s departure, Serge is hoping for a bounce-back season from beyond the arc, while adding on his signature blocks, and a healthy dose of steals and rebounds.
Whether it’s at backup centre, or even on the court with Marc Gasol, Serge should be put in a position to succeed this season. Ibaka experienced a late-career renaissance last year; this year, he can build off of that.
A step forward should result in an uptick in point and rebound production, and more importantly, a resurgence in three-pointers and blocks.
At age 30, Serge still has gas left in the tank to contribute. His flexibility to play at either center or power forward can also be extremely useful in terms of roster construction. At his current draft position, Serge will provide rare statistics at a traditionally shallow fantasy position.
Verdict: Draft Aggressively
