OG Anunoby

OG Anunoby faced a difficult 2018-2019 season full of injuries, personal time off, and a season-ending surgery that stopped him from competing in the playoffs. Even as frustrating as it might have been, one of the best things for his development was being able to work behind Kawhi Leonard and make improvements to certain aspects of his game.

Coming into last season, the area of focus that OG needed to improve on was clearly his ball handling. Even during the 2018 Summer League, Nick Nurse had him bringing up the ball at times and playing similarly to the way Pascal Siakam operates as a point forward. Right now, he’s responsible for making the open three, catching defenders off guard with cuts, and playing elite defense.

The most he’ll have to prove this year is that he is able to expand his role not only as a 3-and-D guy but as someone who can make plays for himself. He’ll certainly get the majority of small forward minutes and is the clear favourite to start, but he will likely be the name that comes up if Toronto tries to make a move for an All-Star.

Also, there are a number of wings on this roster who are trying to make a name for themselves. Even if the new additions have to prove themselves as well, he won’t have anything guaranteed.
