Terence Davis

For the first time in this column’s history, an undrafted rookie free agent leads the proceedings in the Stock Take world. It’s a moment I’ve personally been waiting, and as much as I would like to say the same for Terence Davis, I’m not sure how accurate really is.

Davis, the undrafted guard out of Ole Miss, has been on a tear in the last three games for the Toronto Raptors, averaging 12.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 5.3 assists per game, shooting 56-percent from the field and 54-percent from three on just over four attempts per game. In short, Davis is playing like a top-10 pick, not an undrafted guard.

His handles are improving, he’s gritty on defense and he is consistently knocking down his three-point looks. Davis is playing above and beyond at the moment and already looks like more than just a competent NBA player – he’s playing himself into All-Rookie contention for sure.

Diamonds in the rough, am I right?

First Fred VanVleet, then Pascal Siakam, and now Chris Boucher and Terence Davis. The Raptors just have an eye for talent, and Davis is the next in line for the breakout role in the Raptors lineup, even though it’s his first season.

Next. How do the Raptors train during the offseason?. dark

Maybe we’re getting overexcited, but Davis just seems like a guy who will be an important player for years to come. Even when the front office make a blunder, they still come out out top.
