Kawhi Leonard’s Return

Ah yes, the day will finally come where Kawhi Leonard will play against his former team in Toronto. He’ll lead the Los Angeles Clippers into the Scotiabank Arena on December 11 to play against his old squad.

The two teams played once already this season, and the Clippers came out on top 98-88. It was a defensive slugfest, something that could repeat itself in their second matchup. However, regardless of what happens on the court, it’s the return of the Klaw that makes this game so appealing to fans.

Leonard will receive his championship ring, and the team will almost certainly be thanking him with a tribute video as well. More important than management, he’ll be able to reconnect with old teammates and have the fans embrace him again.

It is very unlikely Kawhi will be booed but instead showered with cheers and applause. Kawhi Leonard was the driving force behind the Toronto Raptors first championship. The fans undoubtedly love him for that. The game is on ESPN, so Toronto’s reaction to the NBA Finals MVP will be displayed for the world to see.

On the court, Toronto should be looking to get a little revenge. In their first matchup against the Clippers, the team scored just 88, their lowest total of the season. Star Pascal Siakam was particularly ineffective, being held to just 16.

The offense struggled as a whole while missing both Kyle Lowry and Serge Ibaka. Ibaka should be available to play this time around. Lowry’s status is a little more unclear.

With this being the last time they will see the Clippers for the rest of the season, the Raptors want to even the season series and give Kawhi something to think about as he leaves Toronto.
