OG Anunoby

We had to go searching for some light at the end of the tunnel. It’s been a tough week for nearly everyone in a Raptors jersey, even OG Anunoby, but he performed fairly admirably this week and deserves some credit. Or, I just don’t want this to be an entirely negative column.

This is a dictatorship. Get used to it.

But, no, really, though the stats don’t tell too much – Anunoby averaged 14 points, 7.3 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 2.3 steals, and 1.7 blocks per game – he still had a pretty decent week overall. Even if it ended with him going face-to-face with Kawhi Leonard on Wednesday night.

Anunboy held his own, despite Leonard’s 23 points on 8-of-14 shooting, adding six assists. He made Leonard work hard for his points, holding him to 3-of-7 from the field on possessions where he was the primary defender.

His best display this week probably came against the Philadelphia 76ers, Anunoby finished with 19 points and 10 rebounds, the second double-double of his career, along with four steals and a block.

His defense has been the calling card of his career, and this season it’s looking better than ever. The offensive side of his game is still maturating, but the signs are there. Anunoby wasn’t incredible this week, but he did enough to warrant a place at the top of the table.

VERDICT: STOCK UP

Next. The Raptors bench has gone from bad to good. dark

Things could always be worse, you could be a Knicks fan. So yeah, see you next week.
