Toronto Raptors: Where does Pascal Siakam rank among All-Star starters?
Toronto Raptors superstar is about to embark on his first All-Star Game, as a starter no less. Where does he rank among the other Eastern Conference Starters?
With a rise to dominance that doesn’t seem to be slowing down any time soon, Toronto Raptors’ forward and appointed face of the franchise, Pascal Siakam, can now add the honor of becoming a starter in the 2020 NBA All-Star Game to his growing list of accolades.
His season so far has been highly impressive, especially considering the circumstances surrounding it. When Kawhi Leonard departed for L.A. in July, the Raptors were supposedly at a crossroads. A talented team that many didn’t expect to make the step up, the Raptors currently sit second in the East, and Pascal Siakam has noticeably made the jump to the first option on offense.
He’s averaging 23.8 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game this season, shooting 46-percent from the field and 37-percent from three. His performances on one of the best teams in the NBA have gained recognition, and when the NBA storms Chicago for the 2020 NBA All-Star Game on February 16, Siakam will be one of 10 players stepping foot on the court as an All-Star starter.
In the East, he’s joined by Kemba Walker of the Boston Celtics, Trae Young of the Atlanta Hawks, Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks, and Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers. However, Embiid will likely be replaced by an injury reserve player due to, well, injury.
Right there, you have five of the best players in the Eastern Conference, and the NBA as a whole. It’s crazy that Siakam is one of them. Four years ago, he was averaging 4.2 points per game and splitting his time with the Raptors 905. Now, he’s a superstar.
Where does he rank among all Eastern Conference starters, though?
