vs Dallas Mavericks – December 22

If the win against the Los Angeles Lakers was a statement win, then the comeback victory against the Dallas Mavericks was downright historic. That’s because, well, it was.

The Raptors entered the game with a 20-8 record on the back of a four-game winning streak while the Mavericks had an overall record of 19-9 and dealing with an inconsistent run of form, failing to put together a two-game winning streak since the start of December. They would be looking to recapture their form and defeat the Raptors for the second time this season.

What we got, without a doubt, one of the greatest games in Toronto Raptors history. With 2:32 left in the third quarter, the Mavericks led by 30 points and the score was at 85-55. At that moment, the Dallas Mavericks had a 99.9-percent probability of winning the game. The Raptors pulled the majority of their starters and rolled with a lineup of Kyle Lowry, Terence Davis, Malcolm Miller, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, and Chris Boucher.

For the next 15 minutes, the Raptors ran riot. They outscored the Mavericks 57-26 en route to a famous 30-point comeback, led by Kyle Lowry’s 23 points on 8-of-11 shooting and aided by a masterful performance from Chris Boucher.

The lineup posted a net-rating of +93.1 in 16 minutes with a TS% of 70-percent.

In a time where the Raptors starters couldn’t get the job done, this was the best advertisement of just how good the supporting cast could be.

This wasn’t just the best regular game of the season, it could well be one of the best games of all-time for the franchise.
