With the NBA on hiatus and the season in jeopardy, the future remains unclear. Could the Toronto Raptors have repeated as NBA champions?

It seems like Toronto Raptors fans are finally coming down from Cloud Nine after winning the team won its first-ever NBA championship last June, defeating the Golden State Warriors 4-2 in the NBA Finals. The reason fans are snapping back to reality isn’t down to the performances of the team this season, though.

With the threat of the coronavirus spreading, the world is facing a pandemic. The NBA season is currently on a hiatus and there is no real timeline to predict when we could be seeing basketball again. For now, we have the memories of seasons gone by and the hypothetical scenarios that could have been presented this season.

The 2019-20 NBA season has been a success for the Toronto Raptors, they sit second in the Eastern Conference with a record of 46-18 and have already secured a spot in the playoffs -should they go ahead in the near or not so distant feature.

The Raptors have no doubt been a success story in 2019-20. The roster has been plagued by injuries, with just about every important player missing significant time due to injury. So far, only Terence Davis has featured in every single game for the Raptors this year. The fact that they’re still one of the four best teams in the NBA is hugely impressive, all things considered.

This season was shaping up to be a special one, but could the Raptors have gone back to the Finals and repeated as champions?
