It’s been an outstanding season for the Toronto Raptors. If it were to end today, would any Raptors players earn All-NBA selections?
Though many wouldn’t admit it, individual honours mean an awful lot in the NBA. Sure, the end goal is always to win a title, but to be lauded by your peers as one of the best in the game is recognition of a different kind. While the Toronto Raptors finally won their first-ever NBA championship last year, the roster isn’t bereft with individual accolades.
Sure, Pascal Siakam won the NBA’s Most Improved Player award last season and Kawhi Leonard won the Finals MVP, but the list of Raptors players who have been selected to All-NBA teams while on the roster is a little short.
In the past few years, though, the Raptors star has begun to ascend. Now, the team seemingly gets a little more respect than in recent years. The Raptors are the reigning NBA champions and were more than ready to put up a hell of a fight to retain their crown this year.
For the foreseeable future, though, that fight is put on the shelf. The league is suspended indefinitely, with the chance of playing basketball any time soon drifting further and further away. That doesn’t mean we can’t hypothesis about what could have been, or what could still be.
With the NBA season over 75-percent complete, end of season awards chatter was hotting up. Giannis Antetokounmpo was the clear candidate for MVP, while Pascal Siakam‘s MIP crown could be handed to the Miami Heat’s Bam Adebayo.
All-NBA Team chatter has begun too, with a few Raptors mentioned in passing. But, if the season were to end today and the awards were handed out, which Raptors players would land on what team?
