There are reports that the Toronto Raptors are going to make changes to their uniform and logo, and it may come sooner than you think.
So if you haven’t already heard, Chris Creamer reported that the Toronto Raptors will be getting rid of their current uniform and will also make slight adjustments to their primary logo for next season. It does come as of a surprise since there was no real talk about the Raptors jersey until now. But just like regular people, teams need updates to their wardrobes also.
Some jersey possibilities
Rumors suggest that the Toronto Raptors will adopt their red “North” jersey that they beat the Golden State Warriors with in Game 6 of the finals last year. This idea would probably make the most sense if the Raptors wanted to move forward with a new jersey kit.
After all, that’s the jersey we picture the Raptors with when beating the Warriors in the finals. It would only be fitting and it would remind the fans who the 2019 champions were.
With the return of the classic purple jerseys coming back this season, is there a chance the Toronto Raptors want to go back in time with a more purple design? I doubt we see the big retro Raptor again, but seeing some purple in one of their jerseys wouldn’t be all that surprising considering how much the fans like it.
But perhaps having a purple color schemed alternate jersey kit (which is currently the black one) can be a strong possibility, especially if they want to move away from their boring black kits. Although I wouldn’t bet on it, I wouldn’t be surprised to see some purple included in one of their jerseys.
The only reason I see the Raptors not having a purple alternative jersey is that the Toronto Raptors would strongly want to be represented by the color red and want nothing to do with their old logo which represents a poorer franchise at the time.
As for the logo talks, there weren’t any real suggestions put out there. I can’t imagine the Toronto Raptors changing their logo all that much as their current one is already pretty good. Maybe they’d incorporate a Leaf to represent Canada which is something that’s very possible, or possibly adding a dash of purple somewhere which seems less likely.
But if they do indeed change their jersey kit to the Nike NBA Earned Edition uniforms from the 2018-2019 season, more known as the championship North jerseys. I can see the Raptors changing perhaps the color scheme to a more light red look, with less black in the logo. This would make the logo stand out more and would be a pretty good “tweak.”
That would probably be my educated guess as to what they’d change the logo to. There are surely many more possibilities, but this is what I’d see happening the most.
At the end of the day, even teams want to update their wardrobe to feel different and special again. Just like us.
But before any of the jersey and logo changes were to unveil, there is still the whole end of a season that needs to be played first. So if we do get the news, it’d probably be after the playoffs or before the new season was to start, so in November or December.
