Ideas for the Toronto Raptors two remaining jerseys
By Jack Long
It’s been almost two weeks since the Toronto Raptors released the first three jerseys of their new collection.
On October 15th the Toronto Raptors excited fans and media alike as they released the first three of their new set of 5 jersey styles. The New Association and Icon Edition jerseys present a familiar look being white and red respectively with the pointed “Raptors” chevron pointing above the centered number.
The Statement Edition is by far the newest look so far for these new Raps threads. A black jersey with red lettering, this uniform has jagged pinstripes resembling those on the purple dino jerseys. It is also a Jordan Brand jersey which is a first for Raptors jerseys.
The City and Earned Edition jerseys are set to be unveiled closer to the start of the 2021 NBA season. Toronto Raptors’ faithful are now speculating what the two remaining uniforms could be with lots of interesting ideas being thrown around on social media. Let’s join the fun and look at some possible ideas, shall we?
Purple/White Dino
A universally beloved jersey from Raptors and NBA fans alike, these jerseys are always in the top jersey of all-time lists. The Raptors finally brought them back last season to celebrate the franchise’s 25th birthday (along with a championship). A matching retro court to boot and all Raps fans were loving the throwback feel.
OVO
Since coming on as a global ambassador of the Toronto Raptors, Drake has had his fingerprints on all of the Raptors uniforms and in the past several years the raps have repped the black and gold of Drake’s OVO label. They provide a clean and stylish look and really sway from past Raptors jerseys and styles. Shoutout Drizzy!
Toronto Huskies
One of the greatly underrated jerseys the Raptors have ever worn. The Toronto Huskies were a team in the Basketball Association of America who hosted the first inaugural game of a league that would eventually become the NBA. The Raptors brought these beauties back for the 2017 season, honoring the 70th anniversary of the team and basketball roots in Canada.
If the first three jerseys the Toronto Raptors dropped show anything, they are looking to freshen up their look and aren’t afraid to change it up. The Statement Edition uniform excites for what twists and looks the franchise can put on past or present ideas.
