2013 Archie Goodwin, SG, OKC Thunder
2019-20 – İstanbul Teknik Üniversitesi B.K. (Turkish Basketball League)
Career (4 Seasons) – GP: 165 PPG: 6.3 RPG: 2.0 APG: 1.2 Shooting Splits: .429/.236/.700
Archie Goodwin had a few seasons in which he got real minutes in an NBA rotation which is more than you can say about a few players in this article. Goodwin was part of a draft-night trade that sent him and Malcolm Lee to Suns, Nemanja Nedović to the Warriors, and Andre Roberson to the Thunder.
Goodwin’s best season was 2015-16, his last season on the Suns, which saw him get into 57 games at 19.5 minutes per game. That year Goodwin scored 8.9 points per game, albeit on an inefficient .417/.232/.674 shooting split.
2012 Marquis Teague, PG, Chicago Bulls
2019-20 – Jeonju KCC Egis (Korean Basketball League)
Career (3 Seasons) – GP: 91 PPG: 2.4 RPG: 1.0 APG: 1.5 Shooting Splits: .343/.222/.661
Similar to the Goodwin pick, Marquis Teague was a late first-round flier on a guard with plus playmaking and scoring potential. But, as the NBA has been recently flooded with talented and serviceable guard play, there’s only so much rope that a Goodwin or a Teague can get.
Unlike his older brother Jeff, a 2015 All-Star, and a veteran 842 NBA games, Marquis’ strong guard play from Kentucky didn’t translate to the NBA. Coming off of the bench Marquis wasn’t enough of a difference-maker with the ball and didn’t shoot or defend enough to justify anything resembling important minutes for an NBA team.
