Who Would I Rather Have

Now all in all at the end of the day if I’m the Toronto Raptors and I am faced with the decision that I can only keep one of Fred VanVleet or Serge Ibaka, I think I’m going to lean towards re-signing VanVleet and for multiple reasons.

No disrespect towards Ibaka whatsoever, as I said above in this article he’s a great player and has been for quite some time, but for the Raptors sake, it is never a bad idea to keep the younger player who still has room to grow into an even better player and the better player currently out of both of them right now.

As well, in my opinion, I believe that keeping VanVleet over Ibaka makes more sense too, not just because of age, but because who knows how many years Kyle Lowry has left in him, and by the looks of it if VanVleet re-signs he is obviously going to be the Raptors point guard for the foreseeable future. For Ibaka’s side, he’s not getting any younger, yes I know he isn’t that old, and being 31 years old is still pretty good in the NBA, however, I feel like it’ll be easier for the team to address their big men situation than their point guard situation via trade or free agency.

Do you think the Toronto Raptors have a chance to re-sign both Fred VanVleet and Serge Ibaka, or do you think they only have a chance to re-sign one of him? If so which one of them do you think will stay?
